What is your favourite season ? I would have to say summer…mainly because I loathe the rain! However, if you ask me what season is my favourite inspiration for my interior, I would probably say autumn – dirty colours, texture and just a dash of cosiness.
To show how an interior can be inspired by the seasons, we took one dark grey wall, painted in Resene Nocturnal and styled it to reflect summer, autumn, winter and spring.
Autumn – the season of dusty blue and crispy-leaf tan
Autumn colours are off-key. White not cream, tan not orange. After the sun goes down we retreat indoors to read, write & create. Sandals become sneakers. Beach towels are swapped for raincoats. It’s the season of natural fibres keeping up the connection with the outdoors.

Winter – the season of rich gem tones
When the outdoors become unforgiving it’s time to retreat inwards. Winter interiors demand colours that breed warmth, with candles and lamps for extra light. Texture deserves to be overloaded and drinks should be served with glamour.

It’s the season of new beginnings. The ice has melted and colour is beginning to seep back in. Spring interiors have a feminine touch, think light and dainty. Surround yourself with proof that life is bouncing back with plants & flowers of all shapes and aromas.
